About me

Hello!

I grew up in the Cornish town of St Ives, and from a young age my sense of curiosity and adventure got the better of me. So, as a teenager, I found myself leaving Cornwall to live in Holland. While I was in the Netherlands I suddenly came down with a virus, which attacked my knee joints. It was a long rehabilitation, and through it I became fascinated by the healing potential of the human body. This is how I first fell in love with the magical practice of yoga.

Yoga helped build up my strength. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. Over 30 years later, I continue to have respect and gratitude for the healing powers of a regular yoga practice. Which is a large part of why I still enjoy practicing, sharing and teaching.

After my experience as a teenager, I trained and became a full-time yoga practitioner. While working alongside hundreds of unique bodies and minds, I found myself fascinated and motivated to take my learning and teaching to a whole different level. I was curious about the back story behind every dis-ease or unease in the body.

I was noticing profound patterns being displayed, by so many clients suffering with life limiting physical and mental issues. It quickly became clear that when a person had suffered a traumatic event early on in life, be it something major or a bunch of smaller traumatic events over time, the body would naturally grasp tightly onto the felt sense and memory of that event for many years to come.

It was this realisation that motivated me to train in the conventional cognitive “mind” talking therapies. I became very passionate about wanting to learn as much as possible about human behaviours, patterns, coping strategies and limiting self-beliefs and the affect this all had on the mind and body, including my own. Allowing me to then safely support the ‘whole’ person in my work going forward. I subsequently decided to embark on a four-year advanced therapy training in Integrative Counselling, and a post graduate qualification in Pesso Boyden Psychotherapy.

I’m curious about people, what’s behind their words. And there’s always space for sadness, anger, fear and shame; as well as fun, playfulness, creativity and, of course, practical solutions. I get to meet and sit alongside so many unique body-minds and be a part of their journey. People come to me to talk, to learn how to feel safer in their own bodies and to heal. My passion extends to working with both young people and adults. I love everything about this work.

I believe in the limitless human potential, if given the right conditions. Through my work I have witnessed the transformation and healing that can occur, when people feel supported in a non-judgmental way that speaks to their needs. This is my goal; to hold a safe, confidential space for you, which is relational, embodied, experiential and in the moment.

I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story.
